Automated analysis of heart wall thickness
after manual tracing

Rat Heart Sonogram

Picture

The rat heart sonogram presents a
contraction pattern over time with
a superimposed pressure curve. The
software is able to recognize the time
and space tick marks to calibrate the
wave forms, and to segment the
pressure curve to automatically
analyze its scale.

Picture

First the time sequence recording is
isolated from the image.

Picture
The pressure curve is isolated by the saturation
component of the image, and from the y-position
of the 0 and 100 mmHg portions of the curve, the
curve can automatically be calibrated in pixels and
used to automatically evaluate the pressure curve in
absolute units.

Picture
The only manual part of the plugin requires the user
to trace the curves of the anterior outer and inner
walls of the heart.

Picture
Once traced, the curves are individually isolated
and measured and the pressure-dimension loop
is calculated and plotted, as shown below.
